What’s Happening: RoadSafe NE and Tour de France stage winner, Simon Gerrans, have joined forces to promote safety on North East Victoria’s roads, as the summer cycling season rolls in. So, it makes sense to launch the ‘CycleSafe Summer’ campaign in Mansfield, Gerran’s home town and a buzzing NE Victoria cycling hub.
Join Robbie Allen (RoadSafe NE) and Simon Gerrans for a ‘coffee and chat’ about all things cycling, safety and initiatives being undertaken with Tourism North East, to promote a shared respect between motorists and cyclists.
As Simon says: “We are one community on the road, and we CAN co-exist harmoniously. I am urging motorists to take care when they see a cyclist, slow down and when it’s safe, allow at least one metre between the cyclist and your vehicle when passing.
We need to remember that other road users are not strangers – they are most likely people that you know. They are children, mums and dads, friends and workmates. That’s why it is important for everyone on the road to respect one another.”
