MTB Nats and Talent Wanted - MMBCC News - Tue 17 Mar

MTB Nats this weekend

By Tim Ross

AusCycling National Championships come to Mt Buller this weekend. MMBCC is well-represented with 13 club members racing.

In the Downhill, old master Shannon Rademaker leads the charge, with Matt Empey and Elise Empey lining up in the Elite, Jake Terry and Spencer Carman in the U19, Ewan Rogan and Blake Riley in the U17, with youngsters Cooper Hoebergen and Sienna Vivash in U15 rounding out the team. All competition is on the 'International' downhill track which begins at Spurs. Best viewing will be on Saturday with practice in the morning and racing in the afternoon.

In Cross Country, the MMBCC team is led by even older master Bruce Halket, with Ruby Dobson in U23, Ryder Chadd in U19, Ben Ross in U17 and Ant Bateup on the e-bike. Racing for the e-bikes is on Thursday, for XCC (short-course) is Friday, while the XCO (the main game) racing happens on Sunday. The XC courses are designed to be spectator friendly with the start/finish in the Buller Village Square.

Good luck to all our racers! If you want to see some top class MTB action get up to Buller on the weekend, I’m sure they’d appreciate your support. Here’s the event schedule.
